Purpose is the new luxury,
eco-innovation is the new sustainability,
environmentalism is the new futurism,
and partnership is the new leadership.

For Starboard corporate social responsibility (CSR) is not like a t-shirt that we put on to look nice. We are living it every single day, always trying to be a little bit better than the day before.

We set ourselves the challenge of redesigning our boards, paddles and bags to be made of renewable natural materials and recycled/recyclable materials. We want to push the boundaries of what is possible for the next generation of sustainable products and to fast-track our development to reach these goals.

10 x Net Positive

We already plant 1 mangrove tree for every board sold to offset our current emissions, but our goal is to take it one step further and go really carbon net positive by absorbing even our emissions from the past and be 10 times net positive.

Since we realized that being a leader in the watersport industry makes us one of the polluters ourselves, we wanted to become part of the solution instead of remaining part of the problem.
Since then we have initiated numerous projects, changes and collaborations.

Sustainable Head Quarter

At our sustainable Headquarter we do our best to create an enjoyable workplace for everyone. For us a green office is not limited to the architecture and energy system of the building. We also contribute to the health of the planet and our employees by prodiving a fully vegetarian lunch and bicycles for internal use.
Based in Thailand, we are blessed with many sunny days, making solar energy a good investment for Starboard HQ. Most weeks we can create up to 65% of the energy we need, using the solar panels on our roof.

Research & Development

Our R&D team is constantly searching for more eco-friendly alternatives that improve the footprint and even the performance of our products.
Our current biggest challenge is to fully replace the foam core of our hard boards not only with recycled plastic, but with natural materials.

Partnerships
Different people. Common goals. Watersport enthusiasts and enironmentalists unite.

By partnering with like-minded organizations we learn and expand our reach.
We also increase our influence and raise our visibility in the ongoing battle to make our oceans and planet a cleaner, healthier place for people to paddle. With our Eco Partners, we educate, clean up, plant trees and set milestones.
Together, we have the potential to reach the millions who can change the billions – and that’s what it will take to change the tide, allowing us a future ride.
