Introducing the newest addition to the Starboard SUP Dream Team, Ke’ale Dorries, a talented racer, surfer, and ocean lover. With her incredible energy and dedication to building an active presence for SUP across Australia, we’re delighted to have her join the Starboard Team!
Living on the Gold Coast and with a name meaning ‘Crest of a wave’, it’s no surprise that Ke’ale is a lover of SUP surfing and downwinders. However, that’s not to say that she doesn’t enjoy the other paddling events too, as she is also a big fan of SUP Racing.
‘I’ve always had an equal amount of love for all disciplines of SUP. SUP Racing is always happening, I definitely prefer the technical races, Sprint races and downwinders (sorry all the flat water paddlers!) SUP Surfing isn’t as hot as it used to be, but with the rise of the longboard SUPdivisions I’m just happy to keep competing!’ – Ke’ale Dorries
Over her 15 years of paddling, Ke’ale has competed at beautiful locations across the world, including the ISA World Championships in Denmark and APP Huntington Beach Pro, but what she really loves most is racing at local events in Australia, recognising how they bring the SUP community together.
‘I think we all need to support our local clubs and organisations to keep SUP competitions alive, I personally try to get to as many local run races as I can in Australia! ‘- Ke’ale Dorries
In 2024, Ke’ale will be supporting the paddle spirit at home in the Australian National Titles, where she’ll compete on her Starboard Pro Surf board and Starboard All Star. These events will also serve as a pathway to the ISA and ICF World Championships 2025.
Silver-crowned at the Bali Longboard SUP Revolution 2024, this event is also on the favorite list for 2025.
Dorries also wants to add a trip to Hawaii to her calendar, as an opportunity to race on t the board she is most excited for – the Starboard Ace Foil. Her excitement stems from her love of the Ace SUP race board, which she describes as her all-time favourite downwinder.

We’re stoked to have Ke’ale join the Starboard SUP Dream Team with her awesome enthusiasm for the sport and passion for ocean racing. What’s more, being blessed by the favourable year-round sea conditions in Australia, we’re looking forward to seeing what our new rider will bring to the table!
