This last weekend was the second racing stop of the APP World Tour so most of the best paddlers in the world converged towards Japan to race it off in the Trump Wetsuits Japan Pro Am.
With very windy conditions for the first day of competition the long distance race was launched in difficult waters. In an incredible finish, shoulder to shoulder on the same wave racing to the finish between Connor Baxter and Mo Freitas where they would have to sprint to the finish line. Upon reaching the sand, a small misstep by Mo gave the victory to Connor for the long distance.
For the women, Sonni Honscheid was victorious right in front of her team mate Fiona Wilde making it one-two for the Starboard ladies and a good day for the Tiki Team.
The second day saw the Beach Race in calmer conditions and Mo Freitas got back to Connor by winning the technical race in front of Connor. Now tied with a first and second result each, the long distance being the tie breaker gave the overall win to Connor Baxter.
During the beach race won by Terrene Black, Fiona finished third behind Candice Appleby making it a three way tie. So the best result was taken in account giving the overall victory to Terrene and second place went to Fiona having a better long distance result in front of Candice.
Congratulations to all the competitors and especially to the Tiki riders. #LiveTheTikiLife
