Starboard Dream Team rider Espe Barreras is crowned the 2022 EuroSUP Long Distance Champion, earning vital points for the Spanish team.
2022 EuroSUP took place over 6 incredible days this past week in Hvide Sande, Denmark. The Long Distance event was a 15 km downwind race with the first 3km being a straight line to the only bouy turn, and then 12 km of light downwind until the finish line.
Espe’s weapons of choice were the Starboard All Star & Lima Pre-preg carbon. Here’s a short recap from the European Women’s Champion;
“My plan was to do a sprint start to make a gap from the beginning, and it worked. A few meters behind was the second train, but once I turned the bouy I never saw them again.
I felt really fast on my ‘magic’ All Star, connecting bumps all the way until the finish line. Happy to add another medal to Team Spain in this European Championship and to be on top again amongst all these top athletes” ~ Espe Barreras
