Congratulations to Maddi Leblanc for completing the 2020 Virtual Molokai 2 Oahu Challenge!
The Molokai 2 Oahu Paddleboard World Championships in Hawaii had been cancelled for 2020 due to the COVID 19 Global crisis. This year (July 24-26th), they offered a virtual community paddling event where anyone could take part in any craft they wanted to.
And Maddi shares some words about this weekend’s experience;
“A pandemic doesn’t stop my family and I from having a special day out on the water. I tried to pick a route that would best replicate the M2O race in Hawaii, paddling from Port Rowan to Port Dover (16 miles / 25.75km’s). However, the conditions didn’t work out to give me the downwinder I was hoping for. This race taught me how to dig deep and fight for a good result while paddling in tricky conditions. Thank you so much to the race organizers of @molokai2oahu for a fantastic opportunity to race! ⠀
⠀
Huge thanks also go to my support team! I couldn’t have done it without my mom, @emleblanc94, and Leslie for driving the boat, feeding me, protecting me from crazy boat traffic, and for making sure I had a fun time out on the water. This is definitely a race that will go down as one of the hardest I’ve done in my books!”
