The second edition of the Madeira SUP Challenge took place this weekend, rewarding racers with bluebird skies and exquisite conditions for SUP racing around the island of Madiera.
It’s a 3rd consecutive win for Espe Barreras at the 2022 Madeira SUP Challenge. The Spanish Dream Team rider put in a dominant performance to lead the race from start to finish once again.
The battle for 2nd was fierce between Petronella van Malsen and Susanne Lier hat kept together until the last stretch. Also staying close was Izaskunmartt that finished in 4th. We were also stoked to see Michalahe crack the Top 5 beating local hero Veronica Irsilva.

It was another solid performance by Team Starboard this weekend in the men’s category, with the orange cone noses claiming 5 out of the top 6 positions. After some very strong performances, Ty Judson 🥇 finally got his win in the 2022 EuroTour with a flawless race, and the only thing preventing an All Star podium. In almost in a copycat race from last year’s showdown here, @starboardsup teammates Leonard Nika 🥈 & Daniel Hasulyo 🥉 spent most of the race together, with Leo making a clear push on the last stretch that made the difference. Brother & Italian standout Claudio Nika came in 4th, achieving his best result of the season so far. Closing out an almost entire Starboard SUP Top 5 was 🇮🇱 Liran Machlev who has competed at every stop this year so far with very consistent results.
