Starboard Dream Team Rider Caterina Stenta took a weekend off from competition to help organise & direct her first event, after being a participant in many over the years. It was a massive success with many newcomers to the sport having the opportunity to try out SUP racing in a fun environment. Next year Caterina hopes to build on this success to create an even bigger event, that is also more competitive, so stay tuned so you don’t miss out on the next one.
2023 Barcolana Sup Experience Recap by Cateria Stenta;
“I recently directed the Barcolana SUP Experience, a 4.5km race in Grado, Italy, close to my hometown of Trieste. It welcomed participants from all categories, with over 60 people joining in, including a 9-year-old, in this amateur event. The race was part of the Barcolana Sailing Regatta held annually in Trieste, and I was honored to be both the event organiser and race director.
The event aimed to be inclusive and open to everyone, and the first-time race organization went smoothly. The participants were enthusiastic, and the event was a great success. I hope it will grow even more next year, expanding its reach and bringing the sport of stand-up paddleboarding to a wider audience. Thanks to all who made it possible, and I look forward to the next Barcolana SUP Experience!”
