The Starboard ACE board took first place in the team divisions for men and women in the M2O 14’ stock class with the victories of Lara Claydon and her friend Kali’a Alexio who just won the Woman’s Team division on the 2014 14′ Ace in 5:40:30. Last year Starboard team rider Lara Claydon had won the Maui to Molokai (M2M) in the 14’ womens solo division.

“This year the Maui2Molokai race that I was supposed to do was cancelled due to the Tropical Storm Darby so we ended up just doing a fun Maui2Molokai paddle with a small group before Molokai2Oahu as a warm-up run.
Yesterday was the Molokai2Oahu World Championships, it was definitely a battle to the finish but Kali’a and I pushed through!
Kali’a Alexiou and I took first in our division (2-person Women’s Relay) and were the first woman’s team to finish with a time of 5:40:30!
We dedicated this race and win to Trucker Dukes, a local Maui boy who is fighting a battle against cancer! It was amazing not to just finish or win for ourselves but todo it for Trucker and his family! That was definitely part of what kept me going during the race.

This year on our Molokai2Oahu we used the 2014 14′ Starboard Ace x 25. It worked so great in the messy conditions and we were able to get into bumps very easy! The Ace is defiantly my favorite board for my channel crossings, it catches bumps so well and is so stable! My 14′ Ace has now crossed both channels, Pailolo and Kaiwi! So amazing!

While in the men’s division M80-99 Romuald Mamadou and his team partner Bodet took their victory on a 2012 14’ ACE in 4h57’25”. Congratulations to both teams for their recent victory.
Also a special mention for Connor Baxter finishing in third place in the SUP solo division (you can read his report of the race here) and Matt Nottage in 7th place.
Also, Tomo Murabayashi, Dream Team Starboard rider finished 13th in SUP unlimited. Here you can read below his short recap of the event.
“I finished my 7th Molokai 2 Oahu race. This year we had good wind and current. The last 10 kms are always hard but everybody got good record times. I got 13th place unlimited and 2nd in my age division. I really wanted to get top 10 so not too happy with my results but I’m happy to break my record by 8 min.
I leave for Japan tomorrow for Sup camp/Kids camp at lake BIWA for 4 days.
and after camp, back to home and move to North side for open my Sup School/Shop.”
