What an epic weekend in Saint Jean de Monts, France. The Vendee Gliss event was one to remember and the 23.7km course a true test of endurance for everyone. Stellar performances from the Husulyo bros seem them achieving a double podium result with a very competitive field.
“France is on fire! Great organization, professional approach and good long course.” ~ Daniel Hasulyo
This was stop number 3 on the SUP EuroTour and regional event on The Paddle Leagues world tour schedule, as well as 1 of the 4 competitions for the French Selection for this year’s ISA, which means that all the best paddlers from France and also all the best paddlers from Europe were present at the start line.
“I came out of the downwind section, roughly 9kms from the finish, in 8th position paddling my best but still in a little trouble keeping the focus through the bumps. I knew that was the moment to start the race – Bruno & I are well trained for long distance and used to tough conditions – so I looked up, on my left was Leo and on my right Martin. I dug deeper and aimed to pass all the riders in front of me – one by one.” ~ Daniel Hasulyo
In the women’s race, it was France’s Amandine Chazot who had a stellar performance (and thoroughly enjoyed the downwind section) to paddle herself into the second position on the podium after French Teammate Olivia Piana ~ and earn themselves valuable qualifying points for ISA SUP World Champs in Brazil later this year.
