“The Hyper Nut’s are my go-to board in surf that is a bit mushy and slow. When riding the Hyper Nut it provides you with so much speed on the wave and great manoeuvrability. Instead of having a frustrating surf you can go out there and have a fun time making the most of the conditions. It’s a favourite in my quiver.”
“The Hyper Nut is the super fun board that makes any conditions feel like a skateboard park! Small waves become open canvases and mushy waves become fun again! This doesn’t mean you can’t bring it out into some sizable surf as well! For whatever the conditions, this is a board that can be fun in anything!”
On the water, the board felt SO stable! The added width in the center of the board mixed with the recessed deck really contributes to that stability. The board was also easy to turn when stepping back towards the tail. When it comes to the glide, if you’ve got the right technique and power behind your stroke you’re going to get a really nice glide and even get some speed just as the designers of this board intended with the thinner sharp slicing nose and deep center channel on the bottom.
This is the board I won the US National Title on and I was loving how it felt. The all-around feel it gives constantly surprises me. It features bevelled rails on the bottom which helps the board roll into turns and the rails nicely.
I have to report back and tell you that I spent my first real session on the 7’11 Spice yesterday morning and I AM IN LOVE! It is my new favourite board. Anywho – you did it – you created a monster. I am in love with the Spice. My surf buddy yesterday was like – “whoa! you are killing it on that thing!”
The Spice range was designed and developed in Portugal by shaper Luis “Lacrau” and Ollie O’Reilly. We tested the Spice in a range of conditions at various beaches in Portugal, showcasing the shape’s versatility to handle different wave types. Thanks to all the riders involved in the testing including Franz Orsi, Trevor Tunnington, Benoit Carpentier, Daniel Hasulyo, Leonard Nika and Nuno Fradique.
“We were blown away by the performance capabilities of the Wedge. The board feels a lot smaller and compact than the specifications make it out to be and this is because of the pulled-in tail, consistent rocker line, bottom contours and thinner rail profile. The Wedge could well be a SUP surfing quiver killer for beginner to intermediate SUP surfers.”
“The 9’4″ Whopper feels much more playful and reactive”
“An Avanti is a big board that surprised me with its smoothness to roll onto rail turns and surfed very agile for its size”
“Starboard said this board does A LOT and I can confirm it does everything they said it does. It works really well in flatwater, it plays really well in surf, and it’s a great downwinding board. It’s a true all-rounder.”
