It’s been a great start to the season for Starboard Dream Team rider Fiona Wylde as she racks up yet another double podium at the weekends 2019 Aloha Spirit Festival. Fiona took the win in the Technical Beach Race and placed second behind Lena Ribeiro in the Distance Race event.
“I am so excited to share with you that I got another win over the weekend at the Aloha Spirit Festival in Ilhabela, Brazil! I won the technical race and got second in the distance race to Lena Ribeiro. It was a beautiful event because it was a zero waste, plastic-free event! Even at the finish line, athletes were given water in reusable cups that were washed and refilled with water. This is the way that events should be run!
In addition, there were OC races, Surfski, prone, V1, swimming and running races all in the same weekend! It truly was a sports festival!
The water sports community here is huge, and I’m so honoured with the warm welcome everybody has extended to me here in Brazil.”

🥈2nd place today in the @alohaspiritbrasil 10km!! Conditions were hot and glassy, but I’m really happy with my performance! 😃 All three of us crossed the finish line within a few seconds of each other, but big congrats to @lenagribeiro for taking out the win and to @moahpaddle for 3rd! . Tomorrow will be the technical race! 💃🏁 . 📸: @giannivecco #standuppaddle #suprace #alohaspirit #brazil #ilhabela #type1diabetes #diabadass
